Gemma Veazey joined Barnett's in 1998 and, after relocating to Jewry Street in Winchester, bought the company in 2002.
Following a major refurbishment and expansion in 2012, with the introduction of the shave suite, we focused on ensuring the team had all the professional qualifications to back up their skills. Barnett's are proud members of the British Barbers Association (BBA) and Gemma was the first barber in Hampshire to receive the state registered senior barber (SRSB) qualification from the Hair Council.
From traditional barbering to new trends we pride ourselves in offering great customer service with all our team focused on continuing to develop their skills and raising the standards of barbering.

Gemma started working for Barnett's in 1998 then bought the business in 2002. She joined the BBA in their mission to raise the standard of barbering and to gain licensing for the industry. In 2013 she became the first state registered senior barber in Hampshire.
We bring a personal and professional approach to everyone we work with, which is why our clients love us and why they keep coming back.
At the start of their careers, many years ago, the team all individually gained their NVQs in hairdressing as NVQs in barbering were not then available. Over the years they have all done various barbering courses to perfect and update their skills.
In recent years NVQs in barbering finally became available and last year the team were honoured to be offered the opportunity by the British Barbers Association (BBA) to do their NVQ level 3, one of the highest levels achievable, in barbering.
Gemma Veazey was also offered the opportunity to do her TAQA (Training, Assessment, Quality Assurance qualification) and jumped at the chance to gain this qualification and be able to help the next generation of barbers in their careers.
Gemma and the team would like to say a special thanks to Mike Taylor, Director of the BBA, and Tracy Turner, Area Manager - ESG South, for these opportunities and all their help.
